Pearl Stringing
Pearl and Bead Restringing
Strands are restrung by hand. What that involves depends on the pearls themselves, the thread, the clasp and the length you want.

We Go Through the Strand With You
A strand that has been worn for years is rarely uniform: some pearls may have worn at the drill hole, the thread stretches and the clasp may have seen more use than the rest.
We look at all of it in front of you and say which parts we would reuse and which we would not, before any knot is untied.
What We Check
Four Parts of One Strand
-
The pearls
Their condition, and whether every one can go back on the thread.
-
The thread
Thread is what wears first, which is usually why a strand comes in.
-
The clasp
Kept if it is sound, replaced if it is not. We tell you which before we start.
-
The length
A good moment to change how the strand sits, if you would like to.
How It Works
Untied, Checked, Restrung
-
Bring the strand in
Along with any pearls that have come loose, if you still have them.
-
We look at it together
Pearls, thread and clasp, one by one.
-
We agree length and clasp
What we would keep, what we would replace and how you would like it to sit.
-
It is restrung by hand
Knotted between the pearls, as it was made to be.
Not every pearl or clasp can be reused. We will tell you which, once we have seen the strand.
