Jewelry Appraisals

Appraisals That Document Your Pieces

The piece is examined here, in person. What the appraisal covers, what paperwork it produces and what it costs are agreed with us beforehand.

Before You Come In

Tell Us What the Appraisal Is For

People ask for an appraisal for very different reasons, and the reason changes what the document needs to contain. Tell us what yours is for and we will tell you what we can prepare.

We cannot say in advance whether a document will satisfy a particular insurer, court or process. Bring us their requirements and we will go through them with you.

What to Confirm First

Four Things We Agree Beforehand

  • What the appraisal is for

The purpose shapes what the document has to say.

  • What documentation you need

Bring any requirements you have been given and we will read them with you.

  • What the piece is

That part only becomes clear once we have it in front of us.

  • Scope and cost

Both are confirmed with the store before we begin.

How It Works

A Conversation, Then the Piece

  1. Talk to us first

Call or come by and tell us what you need the appraisal for.

  2. Bring the piece in

An appraisal cannot be done from a photograph or a description.

  3. We examine and document it

What we record depends on the piece and on what the appraisal is for.

  4. We go through it with you

You leave understanding what the document says and what it does not.

An appraisal describes a piece; it is not an offer to buy it and it does not automatically satisfy any particular requirement.
