Rhodium Plating

Rhodium Plating for White Gold Pieces

Plating refreshes the surface of a piece. Whether it suits yours depends on the base metal, the condition it is in and the finish you are after.

Before You Decide

Plating Is a Surface, Not a Repair

Rhodium sits on top of the metal underneath. It changes how a piece looks; it does not change what the piece is or fix what is wrong with it.

Because it is a surface, it wears with use. How long it looks new depends on the piece and on how often it is worn, so we do not put a number on it.

What Decides It

What We Check First

  • The base metal

Not every metal takes plating the same way, or at all.

  • The condition

Marks and wear underneath do not disappear beneath a new surface.

  • Stones and settings

Some stones and settings change what can be done, or whether it should be.

  • The finish you want

Worth talking through, because the result is a look rather than a repair.

How It Works

Looked At, Then Decided

  1. Bring the piece in

We need to see the metal and the setting, not a description of them.

  2. We check whether it suits

Base metal, condition, stones and what you are hoping to see.

  3. We explain what to expect

Including what plating will not change, and that it wears over time.

  4. You decide

Sometimes the honest answer is that plating is not the right step.

Plating is not permanent and we do not promise how long it will last on a given piece.
